Statement Necklaces Hit the Oscars 2015 Red Carpet

There was one statement made loudly at the Oscars red carpet, and it was happening above the neck. The statement necklaces that stole the red carpet show at the 87th Annual Academy Awards weren’t your typical red carpet jewels by any means. They were unexpected surprises — and total hits.

Cate Blanchett (above, left), a no-fail risk-taker, opted for a turquoise Tiffany & Co. bib necklace. The actress looked statuesque in a black sleeveless Maison Martin Margiela column byJohn Galliano, allowing her necklace to take center stage by skipping out on extra add-ons.

Meanwhile, Margot Robbie (above, center) accessorized her plunging long-sleeve Saint Laurent gown with an ornate tassel necklace by Van Cleef & Aprels. The sexy simplicity of the gown was the perfect platform for the far-from-basic piece, which featured an array of diamonds, sapphires, and a blue beaded tassel.

The strapless Armani number Behati Prinsloo (above, right) wore also set the stage for a statement necklace. The Victoria’s Secretmodel clasped a dark strand of baubles around her neck, showing off her toned shoulders.

All of these necklaces proved that sometimes a red carpet lookisn’t just all about the dress.

ASSYMETRICAL EARRINGS

We are happy to report that the mismatched earrings and single earring looks are still IN this 2015. The unbalanced mismatched look characterized by either different colour combination or asymmetrical earrings is a sure way to rock 2015. The single earring look calls for rocking single ear cuffs and bolder pieces on one ear - and we toteally get it, bolder pieces on both ears would be way too much.

LUPITA - BEST DRESSED OSCARS 2015

Our very own Lupita Nyong’o continues to dominate the red carpet with her style. For the 87th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars), she wore a custom made Calvin Klein gown created by Francisco Costa featuring cascading strands of 6,000 pearls and paired her outfit with Chopard jewels. Earlier on, Lupita had teased her fans on various social media with a photo of Prince stating that she was channeling her inner prince(ss). This subtle hint then (blaring now after she hit the red carpet) was in reference to his hit Diamonds and Pearls.
